Jacquie Perry: Avout Me

Professionally Speaking?

My professional experience ranges from a beginning in nursing, to hospital administration and organizational consulting, to creating specialized mental health programs for women, to personal consulting for women considering or undergoing cosmetic surgery, to ventures outside of healthcare, including owning and operating boutiques offering personalized wardrobe and image consultation to women.

My healthcare experience has taken me throughout the country, from the West Coast to New England, and has involved me in every aspect of healthcare delivery, from providing direct patient care to creating and directing healthcare services in both urban and rural areas.

It was my interest in women?s issues that led to my work in developing specialized mental health treatment programs for women, including the creation of two highly regarded private psychiatric hospitals designed exclusively for women, specializing in the treatment of anxiety and depression, eating disorders, dual diagnosis (psychiatric issues and addictions), and history of trauma and abuse in women.

I eventually expanded the scope of my work to include women?s services outside of healthcare; however, the focus of my work continued to center around issues impacting women.

After moving East, I stepped outside of hospital work, and created A Company of Women, Inc., a community based organization that offered educational workshops, individual and group counseling, and healthcare referral services for women, and was a gathering venue for women artists, writers, designers, and performers.

My interest in art, style and textiles led me to take an even bigger leap into the world of retail. I created the Renaissance Room in Peterborough, NH and on Newbury Street in Boston; boutiques offering unique artistic clothing and accessories along with personal wardrobe consultation.

The Renaissance Room has evolved into a virtual personal shopping experience in women?s artistic clothing.

It was my personal experience with cosmetic surgery that led me into a new direction in healthcare, as a Cosmetic Surgery Care Consultant to women considering or undergoing cosmetic Surgery.

I had an opportunity to experience first-hand a critical element that was missing in my own cosmetic surgery process? namely personalized care? a single point of contact, a knowledgeable professional, outside of the surgeon, who could assist me and my caregiver with information, planning, and preparation for surgery and aftercare.

As a healthcare professional, I assumed that I could adequately take care of the preparation and planning aspects of my aftercare and recovery. I was mistaken. (You can read about my personal experience with cosmetic surgery in ?Very Personally Speaking?.)

My background in healthcare, combined with my personal experience as a cosmetic surgery patient and my many conversations with other women about their cosmetic surgery experiences, have given me a unique perspective about the physical and emotional issues that affect patients during the cosmetic surgery process, as well as the practical issues of planning for surgery, aftercare and recovery, and patient and caregiver information and support.

I have a particular interest in the special physical and emotional issues affecting the older cosmetic surgery patient. (See ?Baby Boomers (and Beyond)? and ?The Rocky Road to Beauty?Ageism and Cosmetic Surgery?).

Throughout my career in healthcare, retail, and personal consulting, I have maintained a strong commitment to providing a high level of personalized care and exceptional customer service to all of my patients and clients.
