Round three of the house tours brings us to House #3.
Bring on the Northwest Zen!
(and a lot of "green")
My family fell in love with this home.?
The completely utterly in love we're moving in tomorrow kind of love.
I was trailing behind, taking photos in house number 2. By the time I caught up and walked into the study of home number 3, just off the entry, I found someone had already moved in and begun work on one of the many novels he claimed would be written at this desk.
Gray washed planks caught my eye lining the ceiling of the study, gorgeous. But overall I wasn't so sure how I was going to feel about this house with all its stone and honey colored wood. It's usually not my type of thing.
Rounding the corner to the dining area, however, I started to warm up. The table was stunning and what's not to love about an expansive opening to a covered outdoor entertaining area?
And further along a family room, with more access to the outdoors.
The decor was nicely in keeping with the architecture.
But to the biggest reason I couldn't get on page with my family: honey toned knotty alder cabinetry.?
I'd have to paint that in a nanosecond. I've done it before, I could do it again.?
However, what did have me appreciating this house was the fantastic indoor/outdoor flow of the rooms.
Multiple spaces for multiple functions, just really great!?
I could definitely get used to this expansive outdoor dining area...and lingering, I again lost my family.
This is where I found them, making themselves at home watching a movie. Really?!
On another wall of the media room (slash guest room) a bar area...
...and a beautiful "zen" bathroom beyond.
Out the door of this room were more areas to enjoy the outside...
...including perhaps reason #1 my boy was all over the idea of moving in.
A basketball court, a small one, but one nonetheless.
Circling back past the dining room (I did love this spot!)...
...past an open tread staircase of reclaimed wood...
...was a very handsome powder bath with striking trough sink.
Looking down from the upstairs landing to the entry.
The game room/study...
...with a view out to a side yard seating area with an arched pergola.?
Laundry room/craft room boasted the brightest walls I saw throughout the entire show.
And down the hall, past a feature repeating the wall treatment done by an artisan seen in the powder bath, to the master bedroom which was really quite beautiful in a simple understated way.
The same gray washed plank ceiling from the study was repeated here, introducing beautiful color and texture.
A spacious bath with clean lines and beautiful finishes.
Finally, exciting down the stairs, I just had to snap one last picture of the dining room,?
which was a special moment in the house with its table made from an old Oregon tree.
So, with a degree of passion and conviction as if we were truly house hunting, there was quite a bit of debate over this house during which I just couldn't give in and agree this would be the one.
As we result we settled on number 2, the one house we could all agree on.?In our "fantasy house hunt," that is.
